The Flora House Story
Shannon Fenton started Flora House in January 2018. She has always been nuts about health and delicious food. Her love of food stems from her mother, who is a caterer, and her sister, who is a chef. Shannon has always dreamt of creating some sort of food-related business. After working for an organic food company for 2 years (where she also made nut butters), she decided to venture out and start her own nut butter business as a fun project. She named the business “Flora House” after her grandparents’ house in Simons Town where she hopes to open up a deli someday.
Other than the few shops Flora House supplies in Southern Peninsula and in Hout Bay, Shannon mainly sell to her friends, family and the local community on a word-of-mouth basis. It has always been a fun, side project for her that has been gradually growing and sustaining itself.
Initially Shannon focused on a small range of nut butters, but over time has introduced new nuts, seeds as well as different blends. She continues to explore different combinations and flavours and hopes to introduce new, related products.
Due to the absence of stabilizers, natural oils may separate. Simply stir with a butter knife and enjoy.
Stand jars in hot water to melt any solidified butters.
